Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Background Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause death globally and one most frequent causes disability. Therefore, complete correct evaluation cardiovascular risk factors essential to timely prevent CVD. Once central obesity related with amount visceral adipose tissue - an independent predictor CVD its assessment may play important role in 10-year prediction. The conicity index (C-Index) assesses adiposity but there limited data regarding Purpose To evaluate C-Index predicting fatal non-fatal according SCORE2 SCORE2-OP models a moderate-risk country population. Methods We conducted cross-sectional study Portuguese population sample. Individuals aged 40-90 years without known established Atherosclerotic Disease, Diabetes mellitus, Chronic Kidney Disease or Familial Hypercholesterolemia were included through local (CV) screening event Portugal, during May 2022. was calculated for each individual Valdez’s formula. For assessment, we used cut-offs values proposed by Pitanga et al. 1.18 women 1.25 men. divided into two groups (risk high versus low). using models. Results A total 431 individuals enrolled this study. Median age 71 (Q1-Q3: 65-75) 66.8% women. 48.1% had hypertension, 38.3% dyslipidemia, 25.5% 6.6% active smokers. Overall, 387 (90.2%) found have elevated (SCORE2/2-OP mean± DP: 14.99± 7.56 09.81± 3.37), which 259 female. In univariate analysis, correlation between estimation Risk SCORE2/2-OP not statistically significant (Exp (beta) 95 % (CI):2.52 (-2.06-7.10, p=0.28)). However, multivariable linear regression analyzes variable waist circumference (CI)18.47 (4.69 – 32.24, p<0.001)) predictive factor SCORE2-OP. Conclusions present patients categorized high-risk category. Conicity significantly correlated models, related. More studies are needed assess

Cardiovascular disease risk prediction in women: is there a role for novel biomarkers?
BACKGROUND Risk prediction is an integral part of the current US guidelines for cardiovascular disease in women. Although current risk prediction algorithms exist to identify women at increased 10-year risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), clinicians and researchers have been interested in developing novel biomarkers that might improve predictive accuracy further. These biomarkers have led to i...

W e read the article “Predictors Cardiovascular risk in Japanese-Brazilian subjects” written by Gomes and cols. with interest (1). The authors intended to evaluate the prevalence of risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD) in Japanese-Brazilian subjects. We found the study very valuable because it discusses an important public health issue and builds awareness. CVD is one of the most commo...
متن کاملIs there any relationship between cardiovascular disease and androgenetic alopecia in men and women?
Background: Worldwide, coronary heart disease is the most important cause of mortality and morbidity. Although numerous studies have documented the relationship between male pattern baldness and cardiovascular disease (CVD), few studies focused on this association in women. This study intended to evaluate the relationship between coronary artery disease and androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in ...
متن کاملis there a role for genetic information in risk assessment and decision making in prostate cancer?
results a total number of 43 specimens were studied, from which 9 were obtained from patients with metastatic prostate cancer. the expression of five examined genes had no correlation with psa level and gleason score. the expression of amacr decreased in metastatic prostate cancer (p = 0.02). the expression of other genes showed no difference between metastatic and non-metastatic tumors (p > 0....
